"Our" Shepherd
Theses verses seem to cause for great conviction within me. In actuality, these attributes of Christ are impossible for me to achieve. They just seem to humble me and put things in perspective with the creator of the universe and myself.
But these verses end with referencing Jesus as the Shepherd of our souls. In biblical times a shepherd wasn't a chosen field. It was a position that people were born into out of necessity. Sheep are basically Stinky, Stubborn, Stupid creatures that were totally helpless on their own. (Sound familiar?) But our God "chooses" to be our shepherd!!! It is his most cherished delight to look after us.
I can think of many important positions of importance that the Creator of all of creation might want to hold - instead of being a Shepherd. What an amaaaaazing picture of love that Jesus himself has painted for us. What an amaaaaazing thing it is to be loved like this!
