Scripture: Romans 15:17-19 Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God. I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done- by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. So from the Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.
Observation: In this section of scripture we discover God's desire for us. It is His express desire to work though us to lead those who are far from Him back into a relationship with Him. He desires us to 'Go' and teach them to OBEY Him. So how do we do that?
Application: Here is how we fulfil God's desire to reach people through us;
1. In our service we must understand & glory in the fact that Christ is working through us,
2. We must determine to only speak about & be excited about that which God is accomplishing through us,
3. We must understand that we lead people to obedience to Christ by our lifestyle. What we say & do reflects who or what is in Us. Hopefully it is our God!
4. What we say & what we do should be accompanied by signs & miracles, through the Power of the Spirit.
This is not something that can be outworked in the flesh. Reaching people far from God and teaching them to obey God can only be achieved through someone whose life is empowered by the spirit of God, someone whose life displays the power of God in the things they say and the things they do, someone who gives all praise and glory for what is taking place back to where it belongs, through Christ Jesus the Son to the Father!
Prayer: Father help me to model for our people a life lived well for you. A life empowered by your spirit, a life bringing glory to your name!
