Anyone who thinks this passage has anything to do with whether it is ok or not ok to drink is missing the entire point of the passage.
Read verse 11 and then go back and figure out why the Apostle John wrote these first 11 verses.
It is to glorify God and strengthen the Apostles beliefs in Christ that He is the Messiah.
