Peter was upset with the chain of events from Calvary. He said 'I'm going fishing. " When he goes he notices in his shadow there are others following. Peter is a leader heading in the wrong direction.
They have fished all night long and have caught nothing. No doubt frustrated, aggravated, discombobulated with their feelings.
When were upset with life, at times we allow our focus to lead to our emotions, which leads to our decisions , witch leads to our actions, which leads to our habits, which leads to character, which leads to our destiny.
Here the disciples are very upset , coming up empty handed.
God will allow all of us to make a wrong turn in life. None of us are robots that has to do what he commands. We are all free moral agents with our own mindset.
Now God can bring circumstances into our lives to show us the right direction going forward.
When the sun came up, the son of God was standing there on the beach. It's when we have done it our way, when we have exhausted our means, when we have used up our strength and wisdom that Jesus will still be there in our confusion and in our emptiness.
Good morning! How kind of the Lord to greet these mule-headed leaders doing things there own way. Have you caught anything? they answered "No."
One word of direction from the master would turn everything in life around.
"Throw the net on the right side of the boat." Even thou they had fished all night long, the sun had just risen, their thinking were headed to the house with an empty catch. There is nothing more frustrating than going home after an exhausting night and to have caught nothing.
When they obeyed the words of Jesus, they began to hear the nets pop and pull and press. Their were so many fish in the nets that they were not able to handle the catch alone. Their were others that came in other boats to help them with their miracle.
Have you listen to the master's words of late, or are you still heading into a direction that is leaving you empty handed. The Lord loved them enough to allow them to do it their way, to come up empty handed.
Following one word from Jesus turned their entire future around. All the sacrifices in the world can't add up to following one word from the master.
He rewards our responding to His command , not us putting into motion our rituals or religious actions.
God wants you and I to follow the words of His Son.
Ask him today, Lord have I truly followed what your asking of me? Look out friend , God is near to fill your nets again.
