Scripture: Colossians 3:12-14 MSG

So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.

Observation: What a wonderful passage! These are specific instructions of what God wants us to wear every day! Humility, quiet strength discipline, kindness, compassion. An even temper, and an acceptance with not being first all the time. And what's the number one garment we are to wear every day? Love.

Application: When you got up this morning, how did you decide what you were going to wear? Did you check the weather forecast to see what the temp was going to be? Did you look for something light and colorful? Did you choose something that was flattering to your shape? But did you remember to pull on your humility? And love? Did you remember to "button up" your quiet strength? I know sometimes I am so busy that I focus more on my outward clothing than I do my spiritual clothing, but on the days I forget to 'armor up' I have a less than wonderful day. Its like nothing goes right unless I am clothed in my faith. I'm glad to have this reminder of what God has provided me with, something I don't even have to leave my house to get.

Prayer: Father I thank You for this message and for reminding me to utilize what You have provided for me. Thank You for Your protection over me this week, and for guiding me in the right direction. Thank You for allowing me to serve in Your name, and for the ability to show others how to serve You as well. Bless my family, Lord, and bless my friends in whatever they may be facing. In Jesus' name, Amen.
