Trouble in my way
Scripture: I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.”
Observation: This is such a wonderful promise! Why should we worry about the troubles of life when God has conquered the world?
Application: My late aunt Ella used to sing the song “Trouble in my way” every Sunday. And of course we would all sing along, and I still remember the next line ‘I have to cry sometimes/ but I know Jesus will fix it/afterwhile.” So why, when trouble comes my way now, do I doubt the power of Jesus? If He could fix it then, he can fix it now, right? If you’re facing trouble, don’t feel like you’re the only one experiencing hardship: far from it! But know that the God that brought you to it will bring you through it!
Prayer: Father I thank You for this reminder of staying faithful through the storms of life. Thank You for starting my day with You and for showing me how to use my faith as a guide as I go about my day. Bless my friends and family and help them to have a good Sunday and work week. Keep me focused on the tasks at hand, Lord, and help me to have a productive week. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
