The word used for manger here is the same word translated "stall" in Luke 13:15 (KJV). Think about this. All of heaven opens up, the greatest powers in the universe; these angles aren't limited by space or gravity. They aren't trapped on our little rock we call earth. Our greatest don't even come close to the power and influence these beings had. THEY stop and worship at the feet of a fragile little baby from a non-influential family lying in a "stall". God's ways are not ours!
