Who's God is their appetite...gluttony can be an addiction.
Food is even more pervasive than sex as an addiction. It is very basic to our nature. Gluttony is the sin of excess - whether it's with food, drink, the Internet, television, shopping or anything else that we indulge in to excess.
Gen 2.16-17 the man and woman wanted what they couldn't have.
Gen 25.30-35 Esau traded his birth right for food. We always rationalize by exaggerating. He was about to die? Really?
What do we turn to instead of God in our lives? Many of us choose food over God. We are obsessed with food. $40 billion is spent on diets and trying to lose weight every year.

This is an example of healthy eating. The captives were setup to eat the choice food of the king, but Daniel wanted special permission to eat only vegetables. He chose not to defile himself with the kings food. His appearance and intellect was so much better than the ones that chose to eat from the king's table.
When you eat good you feel good. Our bodies are made to eat in a particular way. We all tend to over eat at some point.
There are 8 million people in the USA that have a diagnosed eating disorder. Food seen rightly is enjoyable and good for the body.
Matthew 6.25, 33 don't worry about what you will eat. Seek God and His kingdom first.
I gotta get my monies worth so we look for buffets and deals. We tend to make ourselves miserable because we over eat. We think that food is so valuable that we don't want to waste anything.
We sometimes eat because we are bored and want something to do.
Eating disorders: anorexia, bulimia, bing-purge syndrome. When you have an eating disorder their whole self-esteem is wrapped up in their weight. They don't feel good about themselves no matter what.
Eating is not just a body thing. It has spiritual implications as well.
Matt. 4.2-4 Jesus was tempted with food. Jesus said that He was the bread of life. Jesus said that ms doesn't live on bread alone. Food will not be a distraction for us right now.
We have to be disciplined in our bodies. 1 Corinthians 9.27.
It is important who you hang around. Proverbs 23.20
We need people who will help us make wise choices with food and exercise. We need encouragement.
Ephesians 4.25 Speak truth with those around you because we are members with each other. We need some one to be honest with us because they love us.
Hebrews 10.24-25 ultimately it isn't about just our issues. They are there for us to help others. To use our hard things to encourage others.
Mark 6.36-37 food is a reminder to look out for those who don't have. Jesus looked at his disciples and told them to feed them.
