Sunday June 12

V 1-11 Dissension:
Acts 22:30 Claudius wanted to know what Paul has done to deserve death. What charge is brought against him? Claudius seeking for truth.
Paul knew the Sanhedrin, he was a Pharisee that had been converted to Christianity. So he calls them "Brethren"
V1 A conscience is like a window, we can see clearly when the window is clear but can be distorted when the window is dirty.
Ananias was the most corrupt High Priest and was appointed by Herod.
V3 Paul called Ananias a whitewashed wall. Looking clean on the outside but being filthy on the inside. Jesus did the same Matt 23:27-28
Jesus was treated the same way but responded differently than Paul. Paul lashes out unlike Jesus.
V4-5 Paul was rebuked on talking to the High Priest the way he did. Paul probably quoted Ex 22:28. And talking sarcastically that he did not know he was a High Priest.
Paul turns the table on his audience, I'm on trial for the hope and resurrection of a living Savior.
Liberal thinking "if we can't observe God we must discount Him"
Paul pinpoints the true issue, the doctrine of the resurrection, that of a living Savior.
V11 In the darkest time in our lives Jesus will be there to support us. Tells Paul to "take courage." This word from Jesus changes Paul's life. He writes words of encouragement from prison. Phillip 1:12-14 is one example.
How do we know God's will?
1Kings 19:11-12 God communicates my a small still voice

V12-35 Deliverance:
V12 These men plotted to kill Paul. This is religion gone really bad.
V16 God can use ordinary people in their darkest times to reveal himself to them.
V17 Claudius listens to Paul's nephew privately and has 400 some soldiers take Paul to Caesarea so he will not be killed.
They took him to see Felix the governor.
Felix was a slave that became a governor and was ruthless.
