David's son Solomon was a man that was blessed beyond our own thinking and imagination. Somewhere he took a wrong turn that caused him to lose God's favor and blessing on his life.
King Solomon's heart turned from worshipping Jehovah God to foreign gods. How could this be, How could he forget all that His God had done for him?
He had been warned that foreign wives would turn his heart after their gods. He thought he could handle bringing in these beautiful women that worshiped after other gods, but his own thinking led him down an evil path.
Solomon worship the god of Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom . He built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab on the hill that is east of Jerusalem and Molech the abominations of Ammon. This surely can't be right. How could someone walking with God's calling and favor now take another path?
What was Solomon thinking? The problem was his mind had been clouded and deceived by the things he wanted and lusted after. Satan doesn't care what he uses to distract us, just that he get us to chase after something else other than Jehovah God.
His direct disobedience to God's word led him on a chase that would bring more heartache than he could ever fathom. God's word is our road map to success. When we follow what God is saying, it will keep us away from the potholes and detours that can be so painful and detrimental to life.
Most of our failures come on the heels of thinking we can man-handle issues that go against the grain of our God. Solomon had directly disobeyed what God had said and now would suffer the consequences.
All of us are going to worship something. We all choose what we worship in life. If were not careful we can worship our career, our family, our money, our wants and agenda in life.
God clearly says that we are to "worship the Lord God and him only". Exodus chapter 20 shows us that He is a jealous God and that He alone is to be worshipped.
Ask yourself , Is my focus today on my One true God, I'm I seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness?
In the end, when we choose Him to be our focus, our love in life. His path will give us the peace in our hearts that nothing else in life can replace. Broad is the way that leads to destruction, and narrow is the way that leads to life. Matthew 7:13
