Better than a Prophet

The author of Hebrews, who remains unknown to all but God, begins his writing by letting us know who the ultimate source of authority comes from.

How does God speak? This is a question that AW Tozar goes to great length to answer in a chapter in his book Pursuit of God, called “The Speaking Voice of God”. Very often we think that God was at one time in a speaking mood, but is now silent. The truth is that God is not silent now, nor will he ever be. We have a God who speaks.

God spokethe world into existence, spokethrough prophets, burning bushes, smoke, and even a donkey. Then he sent his son, God in the flesh, and spoke directly to people. If that weren’t enough, he then took his words and used human authors to put them down in ink, so that so that we can hear from God anytime we open up our bibles. God breathed out his wordfor us and now speaksto us continually through his living and active word(Heb 4:12) that is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness, so that we may be prepared for every good work(2 Tim 3:16,17). We no longer need a prophet to hear from God, we get to hear from him at anytime. Jesus was our great prophet.
