My Military Duty
The two tribes of Reuben and Gad ask to not go over the Jordan river. they want to stay on the Eastside and settle there. They ask if they can build safe walls for their families and they will help the rest of Israel conquer the land West of the Jordan by sending fighting men. Moses says, "That sounds good. Keep your promise and fulfill your MILITARY DUTY."
What is my military duty? Is there such a thing now?
Well, we are suppose to be in SPIRITUAL WARFARE (Ephesians 6:12). So, yes, we have a MILITARY DUTY-- to fight. Not like the world fights. But FIGHT the way GOD wants us to FIGHT. To stand for TRUTH. To feed widows and orphans. To take up the cause for
the weak. To be JUST.
The Tribe of Reuben and Gad, they were receiving their blessing-- but they had a MILITARY DUTY to help their brethren receive their blessing.
I got a MILITARY DUTY to not only engage in SPIRITUAL WARFARE for myself and my family, but also for my brothers and sisters, for my fellow co-workers who don't know Jesus, for those God makes to cross my path. I have a MILITARY DUTY. Am I FULFILLING my Military Duty? Sadly, I so not fully.
Father, Help me to see the true battlefield. Help me to fulfill my Military Duty. I want to, need to take arms and engage in Spiritual Warfare. Amen!
