This verse is a great verse showcasing Gods love for Isreal, his rule over satan, and sin, and suffering, as well as His justice and mercy. He allowes Saul to be tormented. Saul sinned against Him and for His love He annonts a new King with a heart after His. while doing this He aleo oets Saul be tormented. This tormenting shws justice for sin. it ends wth david coming to the kings court and begins the story that shows so much of what Jesus, Davids offspring will later accomplish on the cross.
