The pillar & foundation
Scripture: (14) Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that, (15) if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. (16) Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.
Observation: The pillar and foundation of truth that God came in the flesh to establish is the Church. It is God's household - the church of the living God.
Application: Am I as comitted to the Church as Jesus was? The trinity was involved in the establishment of God's household and continues to build on the pillar and foundation of truth. Jesus paved the way for me and millions of believers to follow. I need to do my part and teach others about the mystery of godliness.
Prayer: Father please bring people into my life that need to hear about the mystery of godliness and the household of the living God. You established your Church to prevail against the gates of hell so use me to proclaim the goodness of who you are!
