How NOT to interpret the bible
Acts 1:20 is a classic case of bad hermeneutics. Does the bible teach us how to interpret itself? Here I think it gives us an example of what NOT to do. It's like the well-known example of stitching together the verses, "Judas hanged himself" and "go and do thou likewise." Peter takes two OT verses from the Psalms that dont really have anything to do with Judas in a specific sense, but tries to "preach it" anyway, and ends up making a decision that gets totally overruled by God. And this was after a couple of days of non-stop prayer! I guess it just goes to show that we are all just human!
