The Lord told Moses to leave and go to the land He promised Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
This Israelites were now very afraid of the Lord and didn't wear any jewelry.
It says that the Lord and Moses spoke face to face like friends, but that Moses wasn't seeing God's face because His face cannot be seen.
The Lord did say that Moses might have a chance to see His back when His glory leaves (again it is an image of God's glory).
Moses asked who would be supporting him, because Aaron wasn't there at this time because of his earlier betrayal; the Lord said MY PRESENCE will go with you.
