Masquerade

Do I profess to know God, but deny Him by my works? That, my friend, is a scary question. Do you profess to know God, but deny Him by your works? What are your works? How are you serving others? How about sharing the Gospel? Who are you bringing through discipleship? These are hard questions for me, and I would imagine most those who call themselves Christians here in America.

Are we simply masquerading around saying and believing we are Christians, but our works show otherwise? If so, we have much to fear. Jesus said that not all those who call Him Lord are those that He knew. He said to those, "Get away from me, I never knew you." Is your relationship with God, more than a mask, more than a label? If you truly want to know, examine your behavior. Is your wealth more important than your faith?

I fear that the American church has become a bunch of consumers. Church has become about us, not God. We choose a church based on the charisma of the speaker. On whether the worship band is good. Is it an entertaining service? The songs we sing are sometimes focused on us, not God. We've decided that our spiritual health is determined on whether or not we were "moved" during a service. Isn't being "moved" just an emotion if it does not result in action? We were never called to be consumers, we were called to be producers(John 15).

Take off the mask. Get to know Jesus. Let Jesus know you.
