Not So With You

We HAVE to be different. Not because we should work at talking or acting different, but because if we truly are living for God then we will truly act, talk, think, live differently than those around us. God says to His people: "I an giving you this land, don't act like the people who live there. The reason I am pushing the natives out is precisely because of the way they live." Jesus basically said the same thing to his disciples: "the works acts one way and deals with each other in z certain way-- BUT NOT SO WITH YOU!"

When will I get it that I can not apply the reasoning of this world to the way God's kingdom operates? That what gets you ahead in this world gets you thrown out in His kingdom? That to be first you have to be last? That to death to self means life? That you don't repay evil for evil but turn the other cheek? That my freedom means I am a slave to God? That to be great I must serve all? So many many many principals that this world does not understand... And if I live like this world wants me too, if I CONFIRM to the PATTERN of this world, then my God will not be pleased with me.

Help me, Lord. To me it is hard at time to remember that not to act, think, imitate this world but to imitate You, my Father.
