Money is for atonement not Tithes
This passage shows the distinction of giving money as an offering to the Lord for saving your soul (as in Catholicism) and not tithes. Using atonement money was for the service of the tabernacle. This required everyone by age of 20 and up to give money for 2 purposes: as atonement for their souls and for the sanctuary to be a memorial unto the Israelite before the Lord. Tithe is something complete different when we understand this memorial perspective of giving. We now must understand WHO is our atonement, just as those of Israel must because atonement is a finished work. We do however, continue to give an offering of money for the service.
