I had a kid in my Vacation Bible school class who was really adamant about finding a 'baller' (rich man) to marry. Her parents are wealthy and she is very determined to find someone who can offer her this lifestyle she's become accustomed to i.e. Mercedes, Gucci, huge house, pampered living etc. Well I found this scripture telling us not to desire to be rich.
What if the rich man you married based upon his financial status suddenly goes bankrupt and can no longer provide the extravagant lifestyle? If you've based your relationship on being with a person who can provide those things, when or if they no longer can, what will keep the relationship strong?
When preparing ourselves for a spouse, ladies, we should be seeking the God in a man...not the dollar, because money comes and goes and is unreliable as a sure foundation for a Godly marriage. Financial prosperity is the benefit of hard work, but NOT the evidence of godliness. Do not be confused or enticed by what a man can do for you financially...but more-so what he can do WITH you FOR God.
I hope this encourages all who may stumble upon it! God bless!
