Our heart
What do we put our trust in? Are we trusting in our own strength? In our own capabilities? In our ever-changing heart? If there is one thing we can't trust, it's our hearts. We have too many feelings that change from day to day to put our trust in our hearts. It's not stable. The Word of God is. It never changes, it's always right. When we walk by the truths in the bible we can know we are on the right path and we will end up in the right place. God will never lead us astray and will always work things out for our good.
It's hard not to go by what I am feeling. I think about this when I am disciplining my kids. My heart wants to get angry and yell but I know it's not the way God wants me to handle things. Reading His word helps me to fight against that and do what I know is right. What a great feeling when I follow what God says. There is no guilt afterward like there is if I've just finished yelling. My kids get the lesson and I feel like God is smiling at me! I don't want to follow my heart - I want to follow God!
