The same thing applies to our faith, and what God has promised to us.  Don't get tired of doing what you know to be right, God has a plan, we may not understand it, we may not like the timing, but His plan is perfect.  And, if we follow His plan, if we do not give up, we will gain the reward that he has intended for us.  Don't lose heart, don't give up, finish the race, and God's love will prove to be faithful and provide us with the great reward!
