My Daily Necessity

My wife shared a lesson God taught her about making time for him. She said one day as she was brushing her teeth, God spoke to her about how she viewed brushing her teeth as a necessity. He made it clear that she would never leave the house without brushing her teeth. Nor does she leave the room to come interact with the rest of the family without brushing her teeth. She says that God taught her on that day to prioritize time with Him like she prioritized brushing her teeth.

None of us hopefully would leave home without brushing our teeth. It would be offensive to us and to others. It would also have long-term negative effects. Choosing not to spend time with God is the same way. It causes us to be offensive to ourselves and others and it has long-term negative effects.

The psalmist raises a question. "How can a young man keep his way pure?" He then provides the answer, "by guarding it according to your word". He then describes the action he will take to carry out the answer to his original question. "With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments". Seeking God is a daily necessity. Without the guidance from His word, I will wonder from the path that will bring HIm glory. His word helps me to choose to please Him and not me.

Choose today to make seeking God your daily necessity. None of us can make it without his guidance. Add time with God to your daily calendar and don't miss the appointment.
