drifting away
Hebrews 2:1 NLT
1 So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.
The Truth is something we all need. It is easy to listen to something, identify it as truth, and then move on. When the Truth of Gods word is spoken, its easy to find ourselves slowly drifting away from it over time. Drifitng moves us from our purpose. Drifting is a slow process, and seems so natural we dont realize we need to guard against it. Drifting normally takes us further from where we want to end up.
In my life I fall prey to drifting in a few ways. 1.) I get so swept up in the truth that i ignore applying it. 2.) i get so excited to hear truth and desperate for it, i am quick to implement the truth so a task or improvement can be made. I get too excited for results that i miss the revolution it could bring. 3.) i often dont allow the truth to saturate into multiple areas of my life.
God wants us to reset our sails. In my deep desire to hear His voice, I dont want to rush through what God is doing IN me. I dont want to cause His Words to remain shallow, but rather I will meditate on it, allowing change to be realized completely. I will not just listen for solutions or tweaks, but for the principles and filters God is changing in me.
Father, I need to hear you. I will guard against drifting, so i wont be carried away. Speak Lord, I am listening. AMEN.
