The best welfare system in the world

I come from Germany and we have one of the most generous and thorough welfare systems in the world, providing people with enough money and help for almost every imaginable situation - being unemployed, handicapped, fatherless or oppressed.

But in His kingdom, God offers something far superior:

"He upholds the cause of the oppressed"
True justice  is only served when God rules, since he repeatedly describes himself as just, as a defender of the weak and poor.

He gives food to the hungry

Food  has been and still is a major issue for many people's daily life. How can I earn enough money to provide food for my family and myself? God promises that when we put him in first place, that he will also provide for our daily needs.

The Lord sets prisoners free
Freedom  is something that many people and nations have seeked for since centuries. Countless fights for independence have been fought and still today many people are limited in their freedom. God sets the captives free and gives us a spirit of freedom.

The Lord opens the eyes of the blind
Jesus healed many people miraculously, but He also opened our eyes for truth, God's wonders and a new perspective on life in general.

The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down
A government may help you out with money, but they can't help you personally and emotionally.  God is not just a solid God providing you with the basic needs, He also cares for you as a person and wants to be near you in trouble and distress.

The Lord loves the righteous
Many politicians claim to care for your needs. But all too often there is a great distance between the government and its people. Only our God is really "down-to-earth" and loves each one of His people. Unlike human rulers, he wants to be in a relationship with each one of us.

The Lord watches over the foreigner
Many immigrants are not welcome in the country they fled to, because they are a burden for the social system. Facing objections and prejudices, some foreigners retreat and live alone and unattached to people.

Jesus was different. He welcomed even the outcasts of societies and showed enacted hospitality  by sharing meals with many people, regardless of their origin or background.

He supports the fatherless and the widows
Those who don't have a supporting network of relatives are to be helped in God's kingdom. God says that "true religion is to visit the fatherless and the widows." God helps those who can't help themselves.

Many people debate if we should expand or tighten social security. As believers, we should rather work on proclaiming God and His kingdom, because He is a capable, supporting, generous, liberating, caring and loving God - his help and supplies go beyond everything politicians can do for you.
