Heart of Giving
The presence of the Lord Jesus should inspire us to extravagances. These magi traveled hundreds of miles to worship a baby. As noted in the text, "they fell down and worshiped" Him, and then they offered Him gifts of gold and spices. The heart of worship led to their rich giving. While we cannot now physically give the Lord a gift of gold or spices, we can still richly give to His people in which His Spirit now dwells. Consider the ramifications of Matthew 25, that at the judgment those who blessed Jesus' brethren (in which His Spirit dwells) are credited with having given directly to Him.
