Jesus isn't Normal

Most of us since junior high school have worked to fit in. We were trained and conditioned from that point that the most important thing for us was to be apart of the larger group. We didn't want to stand out and be considered a nerd or different for whatever reason. We've continued to embrace that mindset even as we've aged. We yield to the peer pressure of the culture to make sure that we dress like everyone else, talk like everyone else, have what everyone else has and so on. Our goal has been conformity so that we can be normal. However as followers of Jesus Christ, we must accept that Jesus is not "normal".

He is the Son of God who came in the flesh to show us how God would live on this earth. He didn't follow the norm. He didn't conform to the pattern of the day. Mark Batterson says, "Christ was a nonconformist. So conforming to Christ results in nonconformity". For me to live is Christ means that I embrace the life of Christ which is far from the norm. It is a Kingdom life lived in submission to the will of the Father. Normal, as determined by the world, is overrated.

Choose today be like Christ, which is far from the world's normal. Jesus is the pattern for every Christ follower. He established a new normal that seems weird to the world.
