May I have this dance?
Some one has said that as followers of Jesus Christ we don't have to stop dancing. We've just changed partners. We now dance with the Lord because of the joy that He has given us.
In 2 Samuel 6, David danced before the Lord. David had the ark of the covenant moved to City of David. The ark of the covenant represented the very presence of God among His people. David was so overwhelmed by the reality of the presence of God among them that He danced before the Lord with joy. I can imagine God saying to David, "may I have this dance". God desires and longs to be in relationship with His people. He longs for intimacy. He longs for the community of faith to know that their identity is wrapped up in their relationship with Him. God longs to be among His people more than His people longs to have Him there. So David, danced before the Lord with all his might. "There is an old proverb: 'Those who hear not the music think the dancer is mad'. Mark Batterson in his book, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day, says, 'David hears the music'". Do you hear the music? More importantly, do you hear God issuing an invitation to you as a follower of Jesus Christ to join Him in the dance.
Choose today to join God in the dance. Dance because you are excited just to be in His presence.
