Press Torward
Philippine 3:13-14 I like the use of the word "apprehended." Paul isn't saying it's the one thing he has understood or it's the one thing he knows. We might say "This is one thing i've got 'down pat.'"
Then what does he say he apprehends?
1 Forgetting those things which are behind.
2 Reaching Forth.
The term "reaching forth" is used in verse 13 to get us ready for verse 14.
"I Press Toward."
Forward is used when expressing movement to a General Direction, but Toward is used when expressing movement to something specific. What is that? The Plan of God.
I said all that to say this: We have to Press.
Q: Why? A: Because all that is out there.....the World, the Devil, or just circumstances are pressing against you.
Therefore if you are not moving forward then you are being driven back. Remember James 1:6 says that we can be "driven and tossed."
Q: How do we keep from being driven and tossed? What do we do against all that is out there that would press against us? A: We press forward.....even toward the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Q: How do we do that? A: The Word, Prayer, & Walking in the Spirit (and/or love.)
