Glimpses Into The New Covenant

The chief priests were guilty of perverting the sacrificial system, essentially turning it into a for-profit industry. The greedy money-changers were merely accessories to the crime. Jesus' response? In the eyes of those who are responsible for this ongoing, systemic blasphemy he is idealistic, severe, and out of control.

But to those who could not affordredemption - those who didn't have the means to earn their way in or the money to remain faithful to the demands of the Mosaic Covenant, they reveled in Jesus' grace - his gospel ministry that invited whosoever that believed.

On this day, it was the blind and the lame. They were the ones who came to the temple and left washed. They were the ones who clung to a perfect sacrifice, Jesus. They were the ones whose sins were forgiven. And it was the blind and the lame who filled the temple courts with praise that day. Not the dreary travelers. Not the religious leaders. Not the priests. Not those who brought - or bought - their animals. On this day, it was those who had nothing in their hand, but in their hearts they praised the Lamb of God. "Hosanna to the Son of David!"
