Prayerful Expectancy.
I'm amazed at the passage that speaks about who Simeon was when it says, "a man who lived in the prayerful expectancy of help for Israel." He LIVED in prayerful expectancy! What follows seems almost like a promise, "and the Holy Spirit was on him".
Do I live my life in prayerful expectancy? As I prepare for church on Sunday morning, am I prayerfully expectant for God to do great things in peoples lives? When I examine my bank statement, am I prayerfully expectant that God will take care of me as I live faithfully? As I encounter the lost and live in community with so many, am I prayerfully expectant of God to transform lives and alter destinies? And as my life begins to shift into a life of prayerful expectation, I know that the Holy Spirit will be present in where I am and what I do. Prayerful expectancy....it's what I need.
