If you obey God, how do you do it?
-disobedience grows out of a disregard for him. fearful obedience is so we avoid the pain of disobedience to Him.
-expectant obedience is so we will get rewarded by him.
-genuine obedience is an act of love and respect for him.
To obey the Lord, I must acknowledge his heart (and adjust mine)
-my obedience to God indicates that I realize his love for me (1 John 4:9-10)
-my obedience to God indicates that I return my love to Him (John 14:15-18)
To obedience the Lord, I must access His mind (and address mine)
-My desire to obey God will drive me to know His word (John 15:13-15)
-My desire to obey God will drive me to believe His word (2 Timothy 3:14-17)
To obey the Lord, I must activate my will
-To obey God's word, I must surrender to His identity over me (Luke 9:23-24)
-To obey God's commands, I must submit to His intent for me (1 Thessalonian 5:18)
To obey the Lord, I must avail my body
-My obedience to God means that I determine that He is my priority (Matthew 7:21-23)
-My obedience to God means that I deliver to Him my availability
