listen to your heart
This verse speaks so pertinently to the prevailing spirituality of our day. In popular music, film and literature the overwhelming moral is "listen to you heart" or "go with your gut" or "believe in yourself". What the bible makes abundantly clear is that all these things end in death. Our Self is corrupted, evil, opposed to God by nature. Why would we possibly want to stake our lives on such a thing. The answers do nor come from within, they come from God. Salvation will never be found by believing in oneself but only by believing in Jesus.
