Original or Copy
I was visiting the art studio of one of my friends to discuss a potential project. While discussing the project he mentioned that we could create the original pieces and then make prints for mass sales. During this time, he helped me understand that most people would not buy an original piece of art due to the cost, but they could however afford a print. The print is basically a copy of the original. Often it captures the essence of the original, but it is still not the same. As a result, the original has a value that will always be greater than the print simply because you can only have one original.
The Psalmist makes it clear that each of us are "fearfully and wonderfully made by God". God, the original creative artist, made us inside and out. None of us are exactly the same. Each of us are unique. Even identical twins are not identical. Every person that you will see today is an original work of God. Why is it then that most of us spend our lives trying to be a copy of someone else? A copy can never have the same value as the original. Each of us therefore achieve our greatest potential when we strive to be the best original we can be for the glory of God.
Choose today to be the best you, you can be for the glory of God. Don't settle for being a copy. Don't deprive the world of the masterpiece God has made in you. Be your best you.
