Psalm 34:5 Radiance in God
Psalm 34:5 - Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.
Reading the verse above is like a rebuke from the Lord in my life. Because of work, ministry, family and personal life, this has been one of the hardest season for me leaving much to be desired. And my countenance has been anything but radiant in the office, home or even with friends.
But David penned this psalm when he was on the run from King Saul and had to pretend to be insane before King Abimelek. That must have been a new low in his life, yet he managed to snap out of his pity party and proclaim that those who look to the Lord will have radiant faces! How many of us can truly say that we have learnt to continue having radiant faces when we are plagued with negative thoughts, piled-up work and personal failures?
To David, it is not our failures or the extremely terrible circumstances around us that matter. What determines the countenance of our faces must be that hope, connection and trust deep within us to know that God is still our God amidst all our troubles. That's how we remain radiant inside and outside! No matter what, God still loves, accepts and guides us in grace and goodness. And this, no one can ever take away from us as His children in Christ. Ask God for a new radiance in our spirits and souls today, because He is Able!
