He had compassion... why?
He did not raise the man because he had earned it, because he was righteous. He did not raise the man because anyone had asked him to do it. He raised him up because she was a widow and he was her only son.
Perhaps, our own compassion for people can be extended in such a manner. Maybe we help someone not because of who they are to us, but who they are to someone else.
The old lady on the road is a pain in the neck to drive behind, but she might be someone's grandma. I don't want to slight anyone's positive impressions of their grandma. My grandma is a saint.
And, she's probably a terrible driver.
