The Prophetic Mundane

One thing I find interesting about Abram's call is that he brought along Lot. My interest is underscored by the biblical writer's repetition of the fact. Practically, it makes sense that Lot would go with Abram since Lot's father (Abram's brother) died.

But God is using Lot also as a foil for later in the story as we see what truly motivates each. Lot will choose what pleases his eye and lose his family in the end. On the other hand, Abram chose the Promised Land of God despite its appearance.

It's funny how "little" mundane choices impact destiny.
