Sharing everything?!?
It's a high calling and may seem like it is asking a lot, too much even. But Jesus left His throne in heaven, came to earth and became something so weak and helpless, a man. He battled this world for 30 some years and then became all our sin and shame, spending His very life after enduring torture most of us will never know, ridicule few of us will experience, and rejection at the highest level... not even His closest friends "stayed" with Him. It seems to me, that sharing everything we own isn't asking so much anymore, seems like that is the "least" we could do. Just as Jesus said Himself to the rich young ruler, "yes, if you want to be perfect, sell everything and give to the poor" to which the man went away sad. Why is this so difficult for us to accept, why do we allow the things of this world, that will only pass away, to keep us from the places God desires to take us... the freedoms He desires to give us and the life He longs to bring us into? Is He asking too much?? Or do we want to have our cake and eat it too?? We want everything of God and what this world has to offer... Except God says, "the things the world esteems are detestable to God." So which is it going to be, God and His kingdom which will reign forever, or this momentary bliss?? I choose this day to give up my rights to my life and my possessions and bind myself to Christ, for I am a bondservant, which is the greatest thing that I can be in this short life...
