Opponents - Handle with Care
There have been more than a few times that I've been frustrated by someone who "just doesn't get it" and I've been tempted to let them know just how wrong or dumb they are. This is especially true when someone is questioning, debating or ignoring the truth of God - like whether or not adultery is against God's will or if Jesus was just a man and not God.
But look at how Paul instructs Timothy to deal with those people. He says to correct them "gently." Easier said than done. But in doing so, the hope is that God will "grant" then repentance that leads them to the truth. I guess in other words, God can win his own argument if we'll just let him.
