Love is action

James describes what a Christian life should look like. Inaction is not an option. One must not just attend the synagogue and hear the preaching. They are called to abide and act in accordance with the teachings of Jesus. Watching one's tongue, helping the needy, and being set apart from the world are not just lofty goals, they are part of the Christian walk.

We are saved by faith and not deeds. But, we are called to be doers of the word out of the love for Jesus and others. Bench warming is not optional. We are to be Jesus' hands, mouth, and feet. We are to carry out His will and love others. Our Christian life does not end when church service ends. He has called us to be Christians - followers of Christ. Love is action not just words.
