No Comfortable Cross
It is projected to be a hot week in Illinois. The low for each day will be 76 and the average temperature will be 96. This kind of weather can be potentially dangerous for children and senior citizens. Most of us who have air conditioning will work to stay in the house as much as we can. We don't like the idea of sweating. We don't like being uncomfortable. Many will take extra precautions to make sure that they are not inconvenienced in any way. We like being comfortable. Its evident when you consider all the other toys and gadgets that we have in our lives. We don't do uncomfortable well.
Yet, as followers of Jesus Christ we are called to take up the cross. There is nothing comfortable about carrying a cross. The cross was the worst form of execution. It involved rustic wooden beams and dull long nails. The cross is the most uncomfortable experience a person would have endured in their lifetime. We are called to carry the cross. The cross is not padded. There isn't a pillow top. It's painful and very uncomfortable, but with the power of Jesus Christ operating on the inside of us, we can carry the cross as we follow Him.
Choose the Jesus path today not the comfortable path.
