His WHAT endures forever? #OWNit365
I find it so very significant that when this nation, immersed in building, serving, sacrificing, working, etc. is ready to finally dedicate this amazing temple (that is now so filled with the sacrifice-incinerating glory of God that no one can enter it), they proclaim repeatedly "His LOVE endures forever!" They have every reason to be much more in touch with this powerful God ("His POWER endures forever!") they have proclaimed many times above other gods. They are witness to, and have indeed labored to emphasize His glory ("His GLORY endures forever!") as the creator of the universe physically occupies this unmatched golden building, burning up tens of thousands of sacrificed animals. But this wandering, laboring, often chastened people proclaim His LOVE as they dedicate this first permanent "home" for Him.
It is often easy to focus only on the power and passion of God as we read through the Old Testament, often in a jealous and even violent way. (And to be honest, I frequently need that reminder of His might) But even in these times of the old covenant where God destroys seemingly as much as he builds, those who KNOW him proclaim His LOVE. THAT is his defining characteristic. He does not love, He IS love. Let's not forget the loving creator He is, and that all that we read is laying the groundwork for the death and resurrection of God's son, so we can be with Him forever... BECAUSE HE LOVES US!
