Mirror Mirror on the Wall

Most of us have heard at some point the line, "mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of all?". The line is spoken by the wife of the king in the fairy tale Snow White. She was a beautiful but proud woman. She would ask the question of her mirror that possessed the ability to answer her honestly. The mirror would typically answer, "thou O Queen are the fairest of all". Until one day when raised the question, the mirror answered, "O Lady Queen though fair you be, Snow White is fairer far to see". To which the queen responded in an uproar. This simple fairy tale reminds us of what can happen when we become consumed with ourselves and reject the truth. The mirror in the story was the agent of truth.

The Word of God is our mirror. James says that we are to be "doers of the Word and not just hearers". If the Word and don't do it, it is like looking into a mirror and seeing what is wrong yet choosing not to do anything about it. The goal instead is to look intently into the mirror and embrace the truth and then submit to the truth so that we can be better.

Choose today to meditate in mirror of God's Word and allow it to speak Truth into our lives.
