Focused on you worries?

I love this story.

I love its simplicity.

People in a boat.

A storm.

Everyone panics.

Translation?

You and me in our daily lives.

A problem. Bills we can’t pay. People being laid off at work and we might be next. Poor health. Relationships in difficulty. You can supply many more, no doubt?

We worry. We fret. We gape open-mouthed at the size of the problem. We act like fishermen and the size of the problem gets bigger every time we think about it. And that means at least ten times every waking hour.

What next?

In the story one guy sleeps undisturbed by the storm. So his companions wake him. Why aren’t you worrying like us? He looks at the waves. He motions a hand disdainfully. Pack it in. Stop. The wind drops and the water calms.

Consider the worry or problem and act like the sleeping guy. Refuse to be affected. Don’t let the wind and waves occupy your thoughts. Stop.

The problem is real, but you choose how you react to it.

Are you like the guys in the boat?

Or the sleeping guy?

Rebuke the worry and stop the fear.

The answers to your problems will soon be there. Just as soon as you remove the worry clouding your view.
