This struck me as odd... basically, let the scoffers scoff. That surprises me a little bit. I get that wise people will appreciate correction, and I get that scoffers will hate you for it. But, I would have still thought that it was the right thing to do to correct the behavior, or comment on it, or something.
This is actually quite a liberating verse. The scoffers errancy is not my responsibility. Nice!
