The Old Law Cancelled?
I don't know where pepople get the idea that the "Old Law" has been cancelled. The only place in scripture where it could possibly be misconcieved is probably this passage. I say this because I did so at an earlier point in my life. When we really look at this pasage we see that it wasn't the law that was nailed to the cross but our debt; the debt; the resulting deabt of death because we transgressed God's law. Jesus took care of that debt for us. The law is still in effect in that it reveals sin. The punishment, however, is either abolished by Jesus on the cross (to those who would recieve him) or it will be executed after judgement has been passed in the afterlife.
