Relying on baptism for salvation / once saved always saved
The Corinthians were relying on their baptism and communion as the basis for salvation, and could do anything they liked (once saved always saved), in the same way that the Isrealites were relying on their being saved from the red sea - and look what happened to them, 23000 died in one day and all over 20 years old didn't make it to the promised land.
Paul is saying the history of the Israelites should be a lesson to us.
