Acts 4:1-12
The Jewish high priests; the Sadducees, did not believe in life after death. The apostles were teaching about Jesus' resurrection and were questioned by the Jewish leaders. Peter and John said that it was Jesus Christ of Nazareth who healed the cripple, which contradicted the Jewish beliefs.
"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12 NIV)
Jesus was the only thing that God gave for salvation. He didn't give anything else. Jesus is the only way to God.
John 14:6
Q&A about Jesus being the only way:
Q1: Who are you to say that Jesus is the only way? A: Jesus himself said that there is only one way to be forgiven for sins.
Q2: Isn't it arrogant and judgmental to say there is only one way? A: Christianity doesn't teach that only Christians deserve to go to heaven. Rather, it teaches that no one deserves to go to heaven.
Q3: The bible is from a different time. Aren't there more faiths and beliefs now? A: our world today is similar to the pluralistic culture of the time of Jesus, where Christians where persecuted because hey refused to accept this approach.
Q4: Aren't all religions basically the same in essence and different in detail? A: No. In no other arena of life would that reasoning be used.
Q5: Doesn't it seem too exclusive to say there's only one way? A: The way to be forgiven is exclusive but the message isn't. God offers life to anyone and everyone willing to receive it.
Q6: Why would it make sense that there is only one way to God? A: It doesn't make sense that Jesus would die on the cross if it was just ONE of the ways. (Galatians 2:21)
Q7: What about people who have never heard the gospel? A: our lack of understanding about God's justice doesn't change His requirement to be saved. He is perfect, and we just may not understand until we meet him.
