Are you worth it?
The first verse isn't just for women. Dudes should have to prove that they're worth being submitting to. If a dude and has never displayed the ability to be a leader, to protect you physically, emotionally, spiritually, and shown you the same love that Christ had for the church then why would you be in a relationship with him, let alone marry him?
Dudes shouldn't be discredited by this. On the contrary, they should take it as a challenge! We as men should love our wives (or future wives) just as Christ loved the church. As we know Christ laid down his life for the church. So as a man of God you should look for a woman that is worth laying your life down for. I don't mean just diving in front of her and taking a bullet but by also being a giver, not just a receiver. Having a by any means necessary attitude when it comes to honoring, providing, and pleasing your wife.
When these things happen a wife won't have a problem submitting to her husband because she trust his leadership and receives his love, honor, respect and support. This is the way God intends a relationship honoring him to operate.
