Beautiful Grace
After the climactic and terrible ending to the line of kings, there is a pause of peace in the land. It's as if the land itself was the main character in the story and now it is enjoying 70 years of peace.
Then, almost like a whisper, comes the last two lines of the story. Cyrus, a pagan Gentile king, is led of God the rebuild the temple and he calls all of God's people to the work. What a beautiful picture of God's grace and His plan to extend salvation to the entire world.
